Arie van den Bergen has years of experience as a lawyer and legal counsel at various financial institutions (Deutsche Bank, ING and Aegon Bank/Knab). In recent years, he has been closely involved in processes to implement financial laws and regulations. As legal counsel, he contributed to Knab’s development as an online bank and provided legal assistance for product innovations and development.
Arie has been involved in funding transactions such as investments in mortgages, consumer loans, and (foreign) peer-to-peer lending platforms. He has in-depth knowledge of how financial institutions are organised and is a team player who can work well with different departments within the financial organisation.
Arie has registered the following principal (and secondary) legal practice areas in the Netherlands Bar’s register of legal practice areas (rechtsgebiedenregister):
-
-
- Financial law
- Banking law
Based on this registration, he is required to obtain ten training credits per calendar year in each registered principal legal practice area in accordance with the standards set by the Netherlands Bar.
‘I worked with Arie on setting up Knab Crowdfunding. What I like about Arie is that he brainstorms with the business and uses language that the reader can understand. I also like the way he structures contracts. Arie stands out on these points among the lawyers I have met. But that doesn’t mean Arie hesitates to speak up; he is a real professional who knows his field. And a friendly colleague with whom you can also enjoy a drink.’
